English Premier League

The English Premier League (EPL) is the top tier of professional football (soccer) in England. It was founded in 1992, replacing the Football League First Division as the highest level of the English football league system. The league consists of 20 clubs that compete annually from August to May. Each team plays 38 matches, facing each opponent twice—once at home and once away.

The EPL is known for its high level of competition, as well as significant global popularity, attracting millions of fans worldwide and generating substantial revenue through broadcasting rights, sponsorships, and merchandise. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL) Championship, meaning the lowest-performing teams in the EPL are relegated to the EFL Championship, while the top teams from the Championship are promoted to the Premier League. The team that accumulates the most points during the season is crowned the league champion. The EPL is also notable for its diverse range of players and coaching staff from around the globe.
