AfD

AfD stands for “Alternative for Germany” (in German, “Alternative für Deutschland”). It is a political party in Germany that was founded in April 2013. Initially established as a Euro-skeptic party opposing the euro currency and advocating for Germany’s exit from the European Union, the AfD has since shifted its focus towards issues related to immigration, national sovereignty, and German nationalism. The party has been characterized by its controversial positions on immigration policy, particularly in response to the European migrant crisis. Over the years, the AfD has gained significant electoral support, becoming a prominent force in German politics, especially in the eastern states of the country. It is often associated with right-wing populism and has faced criticism for its stances, which some view as xenophobic or nationalist. The AfD’s rise has sparked debates about nationalism, identity, and the political landscape in Germany and Europe.
