World War II

World War II was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945, involving most of the world’s nations. It was primarily fought between two major alliances: the Allies, which included the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and China; and the Axis powers, led by Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and Fascist Italy. The war is characterized by significant events such as the Holocaust, the use of atomic bombs, and numerous large-scale battles. It resulted in immense geopolitical changes, widespread destruction, and the establishment of the United Nations. World War II remains one of the deadliest conflicts in human history, with an estimated 70-85 million casualties.
